What Speedway homes are actually like

Speedway has something no other community we serve has: the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the short-term rental economy that comes with it. During May, homes across the town turn over as race-week rentals, which creates a genuine turnover-cleaning season with hard, non-negotiable deadlines. Outside of May, the housing is mostly compact mid-century homes — smaller, quicker to clean, and often with original bathrooms and tile that need detail work rather than time.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway opened in 1909, built by Carl Fisher, James Allison, Arthur Newby and Frank Wheeler. Three years later the same four had Lemon Trotter lay out Speedway City just south of the track to house the people who worked there — a company town for the racing industry, incorporated in its own right in 1926.
